Inoculated media plates are incubated for 48 hours, with a reading at 24, and at the end of the 48's hours. If no organisms have grown, the report is released stating that. If any organisms if grown within 48 hours of incubation the next step is performed, which is identification of the bacteria and anti-bioticy susceptibility (sensitivity), which is a wide range of antibiotics imported cards having microfluidics processed in the state of the art instrument VITEK® 2 Compact. This step takes 8 to 24 hours. All of these give us a turnaround time of 48 hours for those negative results, and 72 for those who might have any infection.
The VITEK 2 system has everything healthcare laboratories need for fast, accurate microbial identification, and antibiotic susceptibility testing.
The innovative VITEK 2 microbial identification system includes an expanded identification database, the most automated platform available, rapid results, improved confidence, with minimal training time.
The VITEK 2 system next-generation platform provides greater automation while increasing safety and eliminating repetitive manual operations. The rapid response time means results can be provided more quickly than with manual microbial identification techniques.
